I'M HERE! (said in my best poltergeist voice)

I'm back! It's just been one of those more that crazy times in life when you have too much going on.
I've been scrapping a bit for some up coming feature for Scrapbook Creations. And I've just been busy with life. You know how it gets.

This last week, I've been away camping. Even managed to find a few moments to scrap a lo in my tent. Now that's a sickness for you. lol
Here's the layout I created. It did it for the Webster's Pages Aug challenge. I've also included some fabulous products from two Aussie companies.
It's a lo celebrating my kids recent graduation. Sienna looks so grown up in her black and white and Jera...no I didn't bribe hime to wear the hat and tie. He honestly has a bit of a thing for both. He was recently gifted some ties and told me he now has one for every day of the week.lol. As for the hats he has quite a selection.  Gotta laugh at kids idiosyncrancies.

 I've also been so lucky to work with the gorgeous Aussie chipboard company Imaginarium Designs http://imaginariumdesigns.blogspot.com/ as part of my DT work with Once Upon a Sketch http://onceuponasketchblog.blogspot.com/  Here I've used the intricate butterfly and I just adore the scripted word title.

I have HEAPS of blogs and way too many fabulous los to catch up on.

It's a PERFECT Day... OUAS

How do you begin to describe a perfect day let alone scrap it? I really had to think about this one.

I think there are perfect moments that you want to hold to so tightly they take your breath away.
Like the first moment you catch a glimpse of that screaming, precious face thrust into your arms, or that time you feel your heart jump a beat in love ...but a whole day?

Here's the lastest sketch over at Once Upon a Sketch from the lovely Nadia. We'd love to see you join in the challenge. Some fabulous prizes to be won too.
                                               AUGUST 1st CHALLENGE


Journalling Criteria: Finish this line "A PERFECT DAY IS....." . Your journalling has to be at least 2 lines long, and with the theme of a whatever a perfect day for you is or a perfect day that you have had already e.g. a birthday, a holiday, a childhood memory, a wedding day, graduation day etc. Your journalling can be ANY type : handwritten, typed, etc...

You MUST combine our journalling criteria with this sketch...

...and my take on it

That's when I thought hmmm... isn't it all THOSE moments that make up the perfect day.

Journalling: How do you capture a perfect day?

                                                It's the feel of the warm sun against your face.
                                                The sound of a child's laughter ringing in the air.
                                              The taste of hot baked bread fresh from the oven
                                        The soft, sweet smell of a new born baby sleeping in your arms.
                                           The sight of a glowing, red sunset, lighting the night sky.
                                                              And knowing
                                                                       you are
                                                                              loved.

It's a bit bright and in your face with colour. lol.

 I just love this pic of Sienna. It was a cool day. She's a funny bird, she always dresses like it's summer even in winter, lol.

The sun came out from behind the clouds and was warming her face. So she started dancing.

So beautiful, so spontaneous, so joyful... ahhhh to be a child again.

The fence is from Flourish with a Bling http://www.flourishwithabling.com.au/store/ . I cut it up and added it in two sections on either side of my page. I used a black marker to out line the stitching on it.

A funny story about that black netting. I went out to dh's shed. Not something I do often for fear I'll never come back. On the floor was a huge roll of lightweight mesh. I figured he wouldn't miss just a little.lol

I do love birds and use them often on my los... and my blog lol.

The blooms are all handmade. Some are mine and some from a dear friend Pauline.

Ok so some of you asked for details on the background. Here it is before I started adding all the extras.

It was an old Fancy Pants pp that I had in my stash. Using a pp that has a distinctive patterns makes a great backdrop when you add paint, textured paint, gesso and other mediums. 

I added some masking with mists over the paintwork.

Next time I promise I'll show it in steps.

Just because...

Most of the time when I sit down to scrap I have a purpose. Actually, I hardly ever sit down. If I do I'm usually on the floor 'cause I've made a mess everywhere else. I usually have a challenge or a deadline to meet and hardly ever scrap... just because. Hmmm now that sounds like a good name for a challenge.

So yesterday I sat on the floor and just played because I felt like it.
I dug out some cardstock, some embellies and a lovely tree from Aus company http://www.flourishwithabling.com.au/store/  and created some textured backgrounds and this lo. You'll see more of  these painted backdrops in my next few los.
Here's the first one.

I guess I really should have taken pics along the way to show the steps. I promise to next time if anyone is interested. The cardstock here was off white. I used a mix of distress inks to the base and some touches of gesso to give it texture and shading. On the right I used a Prima mask but I moved it slightly as I sprayed to give it a watercolour appearance. IYKWIM.

On the left I used the outline of some bricks by Dusty Attic. Chipboard can be a great mask too.

I've also used a Prima stamp for the inked hexagons.

For the flowers I used a mix of Copics and ink to give them depth. 

The pp is all Webster's.

Jera was eyes down searching for wildflowers for his grandfather's grave on a visit to the cemetry.

This lovely tree piece is from the Australian company, Flourish With a Bling http://www.flourishwithabling.com.au/store/ who asked me if I woud create with some of their fabulous range. This tree from the outdoor range has such a fabulous design and texture.

PURE LOVE

It's now framed and hanging on Sienna's wall.

I'm not much of a pink girl really but when you see this adorable sweet baby girl it melts your heart. I wanted this to be so feminine and pretty. I've sprayed and inked all the flowers and embellies with a pink dusting and a little whitewashing. 

This baby is now so grown up. *sigh* I do miss the smell and soft warm skin.

Yes that's a breast feeding pic tucked in there. I'm a midwife so breasts are a big part of my job. lol

But I didn't want to offend so it's fairly discreet.

Lots of paints and spraying.

Journalling criteria was a quote. This one from Brian Andreas is so beautiful and perfect.

"She laid on my chest and her breathing filled me almost to beyond what I could hold."

                        My journalling: You embraced my heart and took my breath away.
With this little girl, I became a mother after many years of trying. I was so blessed to have two.

I'D LOVE ANY!!!

Here's a layout I created for the July Challenge over at Webster's. The challenge is to include bloomers on your creations. I just love bloomers and use them for so mnay different reasons. In this one they're a hedge, grass and the sea.

A scrapper e-mailed me and asked how I come up with the little scenes I do. I think the most important think is imagination. It seems to me that a picture tells a story bigger than what's in the photo and I love to bring that story to life.
In this one it was a cold day and we had been for a freezing walk along the pier. As Jera walked away it looked as though he was longing for the sun and sailing boats and adventure. So I created it! lol

Another one for this post.

It's one I did for Scrapbook Creations (Aus mag), Colour Team. It's in their latest issue.

Colours were, turquoise, white and silver.
