First of the Month - OUAS

Can't believe it's the fifth month of the year already! It's time for another challenge over at Once Upon a Sketch. To celebrate Mother's Day, Nadia designed this lovely sketch and focused on the theme of Mum/Mom.
Here's the challenge.

 Theme: Mum
We would like you to create a layout and interpret the theme "Mum" however you like based on the following sketch. You can journal as little or as much as you like, but your layout must incorporate this theme and the sketch.

Ideas for journalling: you as a mother, your role as a working/stay-at-home mum, sacrifices/benefits of being a mum, one day in your life as a mum, how your life has changed since being a mum, a tribute to your own mum, grandmother, guardian or someone you consider as close as your mum, your relationship with your mum or your daughter, one trait you have take from your mum, your desire to be a mum, your feelings on motherhood, what does it mean to be a mum?, what kind of mum do you want to be? , Mother's Day celebrations/traditions, your favourite Mother's Day gift given/receive etc..

Here's my layout, "Love Mum."
Mother's Day has such a special meaning for me. It took me many years to be a mum and I remind myself how lucky I am every day to have my two precious ones. I'm not one for being in front of the camera so I don't have many pics of us. These are ones I treasure. The three of us were just sitting chatting one afternoon in the backyard when dh came out with the camera. I really must take more.
I loved playing with all these beautiful rich colours from Pink Paislee. Added some Manor House goodness and some lovely ID chippies from our OUAS sponsor.

The cute mushrooms and bling from Flourish with a Bling.
Lovely butterflies and chipboard shape from Imaginarium Designs.

Some Manor House Creations blooms.

So blessed to have my two gorgeous kiddos. Love you so much xx
Happy Mother's Day coming up to all the mums, moms, mother-in, laws, daughters.
Thinking of my mum for this Mother's day too.

Celebrate flowers

My new one for Manor House Creations. It's a pretty clean one for me. It just felt so light and fresh with all the white, I decided to leave it that way.

Lots of Manor House blooms. I created a couple of simple rosettes to match in pp from The Scrap Cake.
Discovered a very easy way to do these. Also included some clouds from Flourish with a Bling.
A cute pic of my kids on their 7th birthday. Looking ever so adorable. lol. Love that "tattoo" flower covering nearly half of Sienna's face.
This yellow Meringue flower is so yummy.

Thanks for dropping by.

Eggs-tra-ordinary!

That's how incredible the response has been from the OUAS blog hop! Yes I know that's a dreadful pun but it is Easter time after all.
I want to thank everyone who stopped by to leave such wonderfully, thoughtful comments. I was truly humbled by your kind words. I'm trying to get around to all your blogs to say a personal thank you.

I'll be drawing my giveaway later today. My kids want to draw the winning number.
LATE UPDATE
Hard to tell but it #115.  Congratulations! Noe from Hungary. I hope you enjoy the prize.

*******************

Here's a couple of Easter projects I created for Manor House Creations.
Wishing you all a very
Happy Easter time with your family and friends.

Easter Magic - There's something so wonderous about the search for Easter eggs. My kids look older but they're only 8 in this pic, with teeth that would rival any bunny! lol

Some absolutely gorgeous Manor House blooms. Love all the bright colours.
A lovely flourish from Flourish with a Bling.
And here's my Easter Topiary sitting on our doorstep. Look how dry the background is!

My kids have more soft toys/stuffies than they know what to do with. These ones look so cute sitting waiting for Easter.

The topiary was sooo easy. I did a step by step with everything you need to create it, and will post it in a couple of days.
An overload of MHC beautiful Spring coloured flowers.

Thanks for stopping by and wishing you a Happy Easter,

We would love to see what you create, so please link your project to back at the Once Upon A...Sketch blog. You DO NOT have to participate in the blog hop to enter this challenge.

Here is this month's challenge....

April Challenge
The theme of this challenge is HOME.

We would like you to create a layout and interpret the theme "HOME" however you like based on the following sketch. You can journal as little or as much as you like, but your layout must incorporate this theme and this sketch.
NB. Sketch is rotated to the left of original.

Here's my layout...

I took a bit of a different perspective. I thought about lots of ways to scrap "my" home. I thought about scrapping old pics of all the houses I've lived in, my childhood home, or the first house I bought. The house I live in now has never really felt like home. It's the house we live in for this time in our lives. IYKWIM.
In the end, I decided home, to me, is more about the people who surround you than the house you live in. I took this pic of my dh and our kids playing around and it was the perfect symbol of my home.
My journalling says it all.

I love the joy on their faces.
Some beautiful Manor House flowers.
Some chipboard from our wonderful Imaginarium Designs sponsor. Word and top shape.

Some bling from Flourish with a Bling

Lots of texture, masking, stamping, gesso and tissue paper.
PP are The Scrap cake, Bo Bunny, Webster's Pages.

Manorhouse and Creative Scrappers

Today Manorhouse Creations supports the Canadian sketch site Creative Scrappers for their 200th celebration.
Check it out here at  http://creativescrappers.blogspot.ca/ and http://manorhousecreationsblog.com/
And here's my take on the sketch.

A cute pic of my two taken as the sun was setting.
To create the background, I used tissue paper and mod podge. I love the effect.
The chippies are from Imaginarium designs and the vine from Flourish with a Bling.

Gorgeous new Manorhouse Creations blooms. I love those meringue ones. They look good enough to eat.

A little of this and that

Here's a bit of a catch up, with a little bit of everything that's happening.

First up, it's challenge time over at OUAS http://onceuponasketchblog.blogspot.com/2012/03/march-15th-challenge.html. Come over and join in the fun.

March 15th Challenge

Journalling Criteria:   Finish this line "I miss...".
Tell us about someone you are missing right now and why. Your journalling can be as long or as little as you like, but we want to hear all about someone you are missing!

Ideas for journalling: missing time alone with your partner, missing your old self, missing your children because they are off to school, university or living away from you, missing your children being young, missing a friend you have not seen in a while, someone in another country, someone that has passed away, a mentor whose advice you could use, a relative you wish you lived closer to, someone you regret having an argument with, missing a pet.
Remember that you are allowed to also create a card or altered project based on this sketch and theme and instead of the journalling criteria you need to use a quote.
YOU MUST combine our journalling criteria with this sketch..

So sorry to see Helen, Irma and Vibeke go. Fabulous designers and wonderful ladies.
Wishing you all the best.
Some great prizes to be won too.

Adding some creations in here.
I've been wanting to do these for a while...they're Pen pots.
Created for dt work for Manorhouse Creations.
Each one is separate which is great when you just want some pens and not the rest.

Added some Flourish with a Bling vines and toadstools and jewel scrolls.

Sienna now has them sitting on her desk and loves them. I like that she's stopped asking, "Mum do you have a pencil/pen/scissors." LOL
Here's a lo for Manorhouse too.

Doesn't that watermelon look delicious!

Last one is in this month's Scrapbook Creations magazine for the Colour Team.
We had to do one highlighting contrasting colours. I took mine from Sienna's fushia top.
The reds and greens really make each other pop.

Have a great weekend. Hope you find some time to scrap. Hmm now that would be nice!
